RairBass999 Drum Sample Library

The Good Morning Audio RairBass999!
These are all of the preset drums from a long discontinued German drum synth. Recorded into a MOTU 828mk3 at 88.2khz/24bit. 44.1khz/24bit and 44.1khz/16bit files are also provided. This is one of my favorite all time drum synths! I did not design these sounds but as these instruments are getting older I wanted to record them for use in the event my unit ever failed. Having made them, I figured I’d share. There are 100 variations of each instrument. Note: Some variations are incredibly small. 2000 samples in all for a mere $5.00 FREE!

Kawai K1 Single Cycle Waveforms Collection

Kawai K1The Kawai K1 was my first “real” synthesizer. Prior to that I had only ever played with my Casio MT-18 and compared to that, the Kawai K1 was endless palette of awesome sounds. It began a long love affair with Kawai synthesizers and ultimately I’ve owned all of them at some point in time. They’re all gone now, replaced by other synths with better interfaces and features but my love for the sounds the Kawai K1 produced has stayed strong over the years. So, prior to selling my last Kawai K1r last year, I took the time to sample each of it’s single cycle waveforms, single shot samples and loops. 256 samples in all.

They are all presented here as 44.1khz 24bit wave files along with a PDF file of a document that came along with the original K1’s detailing all of the samples. Enjoy.

NOTE: The first 204 samples are single cycle waveforms are VERY VERY SHORT by nature and must be looped to sound like anything other than a short click. Most samplers can deal with this rather gracefully but I personally love using the TAL-Sampler if you need a place to start. You can load up to four samples at a time much like the K1’s ability to have four sources and with an external MIDI controller you can mix in between those sources just like on the full-sized Kawai K1 (the K1r lacked this ability as it had no joystick and lacked MIDI control over those parameters). It’s affordable, easy and well supported.

NOTE NOTE: Special thanks to Kawai Japan and Kawai America for permission to post these samples. As this is not an official product, Kawai Japan and Kawai America do not, in any way, offer any support regarding the use of these samples.

NOTE NOTE NOTE: These samples were originally linked from my personal music site at http://www.chvad.com/kawai-k1-samples. This is the same sample set as presented there and if you left a comment on that site showing your love for these samples, they are still posted there! Cheers and thanks! -C

Audio, importing

Good Morning Audio!
Today we learn how to import audio into your project. You will use the keyboard shortcuts “shift+command+i” as indicated in the video. For most projects I recommend using COPY (or CONVERT) instead of ADD as this will consolidate all of your projects audio into the project audio folder making it less likely to lose vital material when moving your project from computer to computer.

Master Fader, creating

Good Morning Audio!
This morning we learn how to create a Master Fader in Avid Pro Tools. In this example I create a stereo master fader. Generally speaking, if I’m creating a product meant to be listened to by the average consumer I create a stereo file. Having a stereo master fader will allow you monitor your stereo mix and will allow you to bounce that mix in stereo when the project is completed. If I’m creating a mix or edit that isn’t going directly to a consumer (ie: another producer or editor) I’ll create a master fader based upon the number of channels the rest of the production team needs (mono, stereo or other).

Keyboard Shortcuts, enabling

Good Morning Audio!
This morning we learn how to enable keyboard shortcuts… its easy! Pro Tools allows you to “focus” your keyboard shortcuts into one of three different windows within the program. You can focus the keyboard onto the “clip list”, the “groups” pane or within the “track view” or “edit window”. For editing clips with single key shortcuts you’ll want to click on the box labeled A/Z on the top right hand corner of the ‘track view” view or “edit window”.
